From June 14 to 22, the Erasmus+ Youth Exchange “GREEN EUROPE: Towards a More Sustainable and Inclusive Europe” took place in Bologna, Italy. Representatives from InnoEdu joined enthusiastic young people from Italy, Greece, Spain, the Netherlands, Türkiye, and Romania to focus on ecological transition, climate action, and community resilience.
Interactive Learning and Practical Skill Development
Throughout the exchange, the schedule was filled with dynamic non-formal education activities. Moving away from passive lectures, participants engaged in interactive workshops, role-plays, debate sessions, and reflective city walks. A core task was analyzing the gap between individual actions and city-level policies, alongside comparing green challenges in urban versus rural environments.
Developing green soft skills was a key practical takeaway:
- Green Youth Employability Toolkit: Participants used this toolkit to design and facilitate their own workshops and draft their own “Green CVs”.
- Facilitation Experience: Stepping into the facilitator role allowed participants to test their critical thinking, enhance public speaking, and translate abstract environmental concepts into hands-on group tasks.
International Community and Moving Forward
Living and working in mixed international teams created an inspiring, collaborative environment. Presenting different cultures during the Intercultural Nights and sharing how climate issues impact various regions highlighted how much common ground young Europeans share.
Youth work is vital for empowering the next generation to drive local change. The knowledge, facilitation tools, and international connections built in Bologna will serve as an invaluable resource for InnoEdu’s upcoming community projects and future green initiatives.
