On January 30-31, 2025, two of our colleagues participated in the kickoff meeting of a new Erasmus+ project in Kastamonu, Turkey. The project, titled “Increasing Agricultural Literacy Skills of Adults, within the Scope of Circular Economy”, aims to promote sustainable agriculture and enhance agricultural knowledge in adult education.
During the first meeting, the partners—representatives of organizations from Turkey and Italy—got to know each other and jointly reviewed the project objectives and implementation plan. Special attention was given to project management, task allocation, and defining the next steps.
The key objectives of the project include:
- Developing a curriculum and training materials for sustainable agriculture;
- Creating digital skills integration modules;
- Engaging 20 disadvantaged adult education trainers (including people with disabilities, immigrants, and those working in rural areas);
- Reaching 200 adult education trainers and learners through activities such as meetings, conferences, surveys, seminars, workshops, and study visits;
- Developing and implementing pilot programs in collaboration with local agricultural communities;
- Organizing three physical and three virtual meetings to monitor the project’s progress.
In addition to professional discussions, our colleagues also participated in a cultural and touristic program, exploring Kastamonu’s historical and cultural heritage. Visiting local landmarks not only provided a deeper understanding of Turkish culture but also helped strengthen relationships between partners in a more informal setting.
The next meeting will take place at the end of August in Romania. We are confident that this project will contribute to the expansion of sustainable agriculture and the integration of digital innovations into adult education.
